Head of China Trading – Lead Commodity Business in China

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially‑driven Head of China Trading to build and lead our commodity trading franchise in the Chinese market. Based in London or Switzerland, you will shape the China strategy, establish a local presence, and drive profitable growth across key commodity lines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the company’s China trading strategy, identifying new opportunities and high‑value relationships.
• Build the China platform: market‑entry plan, office location, strategic partnerships, and brand reputation.
• Recruit, develop and manage a dedicated China‑focused trading team, setting performance objectives and mentoring future leaders.
• Monitor market developments, pricing dynamics, trade flows and regulatory changes, providing intelligence to senior management.
• Collaborate with Operations, Logistics, Risk, Finance, Compliance and Legal to ensure seamless execution of trades.
• Represent the company at industry conferences, customer meetings and trade events, strengthening stakeholder relationships.

Required profile

• Native‑level Mandarin proficiency and fluent English (written and spoken).
• Significant experience in international commodity trading with a proven track record of commercial success.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead a trading franchise from the ground up.
• Extensive network and deep knowledge of the Chinese market.
