Head of Internal Audit – Internal Oversight Division

About the role

The Head of the Internal Audit Section leads WIPO’s internal audit function, providing strategic direction, oversight and quality assurance in line with the Internal Oversight Charter and Global Internal Audit Standards. Based in Geneva, the role ensures audit activities are risk‑based, high‑impact and aligned with organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, prioritize and implement risk‑based internal audit plans for the organization.
• Provide senior‑level oversight of complex, high‑risk audits, approving scopes, methodologies and deliverables.
• Ensure rigorous quality assurance throughout audit planning, fieldwork, evidence collection, analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with program managers, the Director IOD and the Independent Advisory and Oversight Committee to align audit work with strategic objectives.
• Contribute to division planning, budgeting, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in internal audit, preferably within an international or public‑sector organization.
• Strong knowledge of risk‑based audit methodologies and Global Internal Audit Standards.
• Proven ability to lead senior audit teams and manage high‑visibility, sensitive audit engagements.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
