Human Resources Intern

About the role

The Human Resources Intern will join the HR Administration Team within the Human Resources Section of OCHA in Geneva. This three‑month unpaid placement offers hands‑on experience in UN HR processes, supporting staff benefits, contract administration, and document management.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain HR‑related automated systems and databases by sorting, classifying, and uploading documents to the OCHA HR filing system.
• Manage electronic and paper HR files, conducting initial reviews to ensure accuracy.
• Follow up with staff to obtain complete documentation for UN travel and other HR requests.
• Draft, edit, proofread, and finalize various correspondence and communications for signature or approval.
• Schedule appointments, monitor deadlines, and support meeting logistics.
• Assist with special projects and other tasks assigned by the HR Officer.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is a plus.
