Human Rights Intern – Women’s Rights & Gender Section

About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is looking for a motivated intern to join the Women Human Rights and Gender Section (WHRGS) within the Equality and Non-Discrimination Branch in Geneva. The intern will support the Section’s work on promoting women’s human rights and integrating gender perspectives across OHCHR programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in analysing discriminatory laws and policies and drafting recommendations aligned with international human rights standards.
- Contribute to the production of thematic reports, statements, tools and internal guidance on women’s human rights and gender equality.
- Support the design and delivery of training sessions, capacity‑building activities and briefings for staff and partners.
- Facilitate dialogue among stakeholders, including civil‑society organisations and women human‑rights defenders.
- Help develop and maintain a network of experts and NGOs to advance the women’s human‑rights agenda.
Required profile
- Graduate or enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s level) or in the final year of a Bachelor’s programme, preferably in law, political science, international relations, social sciences or a related field with a focus on gender issues.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French or another UN official language is an asset.
- Ability to start on the date specified in the acceptance letter.
- No professional work experience required.
