Internship in Economic Affairs – Sustainable Transport Division

About the role

This internship is based in the Director’s Office of the Sustainable Transport Division at the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in Geneva. Working under the Secretary of the Inland Transport Committee (ITC), the intern will contribute to the preparation and follow‑up of the 89th ITC plenary session and related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with research, analysis and drafting of official and informal documents for the ITC plenary session.
• Support invitation logistics for high‑level participants and speakers from governments, international organisations and the private sector.
• Help organise side‑events involving senior UN officials and Member State representatives.
• Prepare communication materials and manage the ITC web and social‑media presence.
• Provide ad‑hoc assistance for session follow‑up, including liaison with Member State representatives and note‑taking.
• Support implementation of the ITC Strategy on Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions from Inland Transport and its Action Plan.
• Undertake additional tasks within the Director’s Office and Sustainable Transport Division as required.
