Internship in International Trade & Commodities Division

About the role
This unpaid, full‑time internship is based in the Division on International Trade and Commodities (DITC), Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD. It can be carried out on‑site in Geneva or remotely, starting 1 October 2026 for a six‑month period.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct legal and economic research on emerging competition and consumer‑protection issues, analyse sources and prepare briefing notes.
- Assist in drafting background papers and presentation materials for intergovernmental meetings and events.
- Attend meetings, take minutes and produce summary reports.
- Support the organization of webinars and technical‑cooperation activities.
- Help implement technical‑cooperation programmes and perform other related tasks as required.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recent graduate of a university programme in law, economics, international trade or a related field.
- Strong analytical abilities and interest in competition and consumer‑protection policy.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote or hybrid setting.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
