Legal Advisor – Commodities Trade Finance & Wealth Management

About the role

The bank seeks a pragmatic, commercially‑mindful Legal Advisor to provide hands‑on legal support across Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management and Treasury functions. Reporting to the Head of Legal & Compliance, you will advise the business on Swiss and international legal matters and work closely with internal teams, clients, external counsel and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on Swiss and international matters to various departments.
• Draft, review and negotiate banking agreements, security documentation and other legal contracts, especially for Commodity Trade Finance and Wealth Management.
• Support the bank in client, counter‑party, authority, court and bankruptcy issues.
• Advise on client succession and estate matters.
• Review internal policies and documentation to ensure compliance with legislation.
• Monitor Swiss banking legislation and advise senior management on impacts.
• Coordinate external lawyers for specialist advice, disputes and litigation.
• Conduct legal research and prepare opinions, reports and other documentation.

Required profile

• Swiss‑qualified lawyer (Brevet d’avocat preferred) with proven experience in Swiss banking law.
• Essential experience in Commodity Trade Finance.
• Strong understanding of Swiss banking regulations and related compliance matters.
• Excellent legal drafting, research and analytical abilities.
• Pragmatic, commercially‑minded approach with sound judgement.
• Well‑organized, able to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Fluent written and spoken French and English.
• Swiss resident.
