Legal Advisor – Swiss Banking (Geneva)

About the role

We are seeking a Legal Advisor for a Swiss financial institution based in Geneva. Working closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance, you will provide proactive, hands‑on legal support across the organization and help mitigate legal and regulatory risks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to various bank departments on a broad range of matters.
• Handle civil, criminal and administrative requests, investigations and proceedings with authorities.
• Draft, review and negotiate banking and security documentation.
• Support Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management and Financial Institutions activities.
• Review internal rules and directives for legislative compliance.
• Conduct legal research on Swiss banking matters and deliver practical recommendations.
• Coordinate external counsel on banking matters and litigation.
• Monitor developments in Swiss law and support implementation of new requirements.

Required profile

• 8–10+ years of experience in the Swiss banking sector, preferably in‑house.
• Strong knowledge of Commodity Trade Finance (mandatory).
• Good understanding of banking regulatory and compliance matters.
• Excellent legal analysis, drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken, with Swiss residency.
