National Consultant for Morocco Finance and Climate Risk

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a National Consultant to support Morocco’s integration of climate risk into its investment and financing frameworks under the PAGE (Partnership for Action on Green Economy) programme.

Key responsibilities

• Collect relevant data, national documents and other sources needed for the study.
• Conduct a diagnostic study of the FM6I’s current climate practices.
• Prepare a review of good practices and lessons learned from other Moroccan financial institutions and assess their relevance for an ESG strategy that integrates climate risks.
• Review and contribute to the draft diagnostic study prepared by the international consultant, incorporating international best practices.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations and support the pilot application of a climate‑risk assessment methodology with the FM6I.
• Collaborate closely with the UNEP international consultant to ensure alignment with national policies and effective stakeholder engagement.

Required profile

• Experience in climate‑risk assessment and sustainable finance.
• Familiarity with Moroccan financial institutions and ESG frameworks.
• Ability to work remotely and coordinate with international teams.
