Technical Studentship – Applied Physics (2027‑1)

About the role
You’ll join an environment where learning and discovery go hand in hand. As a Technical Student you’ll gain hands‑on experience while supporting projects in applied physics.
Key responsibilities
- Learn from and assist experienced engineers, technicians and scientists.
- Contribute to projects in instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition or radiation measurements.
- Take part in day‑to‑day technical activities under close supervision.
- Collaborate and exchange ideas within an international multidisciplinary team.
Required profile
- Currently studying Applied Physics, Engineering Physics or a related field.
- Completed at least 18 months of studies (3 semesters) at the time of selection.
- Enrolled as a full‑time student during the studentship.
- National of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (subject to eligibility limits).
- Good knowledge of English or French.
Required skills
- Understanding of applied physics fundamentals.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition, and radiation measurements.
What we offer
- Monthly allowance of 3,486 CHF (tax free).
- 30 days paid leave per year plus 2 weeks annual closure.
- Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive health‑insurance scheme (deducted from allowance).
- Family supplement to subsistence allowance, depending on individual circumstances.
- Travel expenses to Geneva upon joining, depending on individual circumstances.
