About the role
The Nowcasts Intern will support UNCTAD's real‑time economic forecasting work within the Statistics, Data and Digital Service. The internship is on‑site in Geneva and runs for six months, starting 20 October 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in evaluating and improving data collection pipelines for nowcasting models.
- Support enhancements of machine‑learning models, including adding uncertainty bands.
- Research feasibility of extending nowcasts to new geographies and series.
- Contribute to related AI and data‑science tasks and broader trade data analytics.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate or final‑year bachelor programme (Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, IT or equivalent).
- Computer literate with a strong interest in UN work and ability to work with diverse cultures.
- Fluency in English.
