Portfolio Strategy & Innovation Intern (Future Talent Program)

About the role

Abbott's Established Pharmaceuticals Business (EPD) in Basel, Switzerland, is looking for a highly motivated candidate for a 6-12 month graduate internship in Portfolio Strategy & Innovation. Working closely with the Global Head of Portfolio and Program Management, you will support growth opportunity evaluation, disease area strategies and portfolio prioritisation, with exposure to Product Development, Medical Affairs and Commercial functions.

Key responsibilities

• Support portfolio strategy through data analysis, strategic recommendations and portfolio governance support.
• Contribute to disease area strategy and portfolio prioritisation across the EPD portfolio.
• Support annual and quarterly portfolio reviews by consolidating pipeline, lifecycle and financial information.
• Create executive-ready summaries, dashboards and governance materials for portfolio decision-making forums.
• Track portfolio performance metrics, milestones and strategic initiatives.
• Lead therapeutic area assessments and conduct epidemiology reviews, competitive landscape analyses, emerging technology assessments, patient journey evaluations and unmet need analyses.
• Identify strategic white space and present recommendations to growth teams and senior stakeholders.
• Partner with Medical and Digital teams on opportunities beyond medicines, such as digital health, remote monitoring and early diagnosis.
• Review portfolio governance processes, benchmark industry best practice and help define portfolio metrics, reporting standards and governance frameworks.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a leading MBA program.
• Interest in portfolio strategy, innovation management, business development and the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in strategic planning, consulting, corporate strategy, business analytics, finance or related fields.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
