Procurement Officer – Temporary Position

About the role

The United Nations Office at Geneva is seeking a Procurement Officer on a temporary, full‑time basis. Reporting to the Chief of the Procurement and Contracts Unit, you will manage complex procurement and contract activities for a wide range of goods and services worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop and oversee procurement and contractual aspects of high‑complexity projects covering IT, equipment, vehicles, medicines, construction, and more.
• Advise requisitioning units on procurement procedures and support all stages of the procurement cycle.
• Prepare and issue invitations to tender, evaluate bids, and manage the selection process.
• Negotiate with senior suppliers, sign orders within authority limits and prepare submissions for higher‑value contracts.
• Conduct market research, monitor commodity trends and identify innovative supply solutions.
• Maintain contract work programmes, monitor compliance, and recommend amendments or extensions.
• Draft procurement documents, contracts, guidelines and communications.
• Provide guidance and possible supervision to junior staff.

Required profile

• Proven ability to manage complex procurement cases for diverse products and services.
• Strong knowledge of UN Financial Regulations, Procurement Manual and international procurement standards.
• Understanding of contract law and experience handling complex contractual issues.
• Analytical skills for market research and supplier capacity assessment.
