Remote Intellectual Property Law Expert

About the role

Turing is seeking a seasoned Intellectual Property (IP) law professional to join its remote team. You will work on projects that fine‑tune large language models, evaluating how AI handles IP‑related legal questions. No prior AI experience is required; your U.S. IP expertise is the core asset.

Key responsibilities

• Review and assess AI‑generated answers to U.S. IP hypotheticals, covering patent eligibility, trademark likelihood of confusion, copyright fair use, and trade‑secret misappropriation.
• Apply a structured legal rubric to evaluate issue spotting, doctrinal accuracy, and correct application of the Patent Act, Lanham Act, and Copyright Act.
• Identify gaps in AI reasoning related to claim construction, prior‑art analysis, distinctiveness, and DMCA safe harbors.
• Provide detailed annotations and written feedback to improve model performance.
• Collaborate with researchers and project managers to align evaluation standards with project goals.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Active or inactive bar admission; Patent Bar registration is a plus.
• At least 3 years of U.S. legal practice in intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights, or trade secrets).
• Strong analytical and reasoning abilities across IP prosecution, litigation, licensing, and enforcement.
• Excellent written communication and meticulous attention to detail.
• High ethical standards; interest in AI is a plus.
