Scientist, Protein Expression & Purification

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. As a Scientist in Protein Expression & Purification you will create a robust, high‑throughput mammalian expression platform that underpins the company’s AI‑driven wet‑lab workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and run CHO/HEK mammalian expression (transient and stable) to maximize titer, quality and reproducibility.
• Own purification across modalities (Protein A, ion‑exchange, size‑exclusion) and ensure consistent protein quality for downstream use.
• Transform bespoke, person‑dependent protocols into automated, high‑throughput processes on liquid handlers and robotic systems.
• Collaborate with automation engineers and software teams to track samples, capture process data and make production observable.
• Set quality standards, troubleshoot failures in biology, reagents and process steps.

Required profile

• Deep, hands‑on expertise in mammalian protein expression and purification (CHO/HEK) from construct to purified protein.
• Industry experience in a production or industrial setting where yield, reproducibility and turnaround were critical.
• Proven track record of scaling and stabilizing production processes (titer optimization, scale‑up, consistent quality).
• Fast‑moving builder who continuously improves production capabilities.
• Comfortable working with automation engineers and software developers.
