Bioengineer / Molecular Biologist

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. This hands‑on research position focuses on developing and optimizing protein expression systems, executing high‑throughput DNA synthesis, and creating assays to support AI‑driven wet‑lab experimentation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize protein expression workflows across cell‑free, E. coli, and potentially mammalian systems, troubleshooting misfolding or aggregation.
• Design and execute DNA synthesis and assembly protocols (PCR, Golden Gate, Gibson), improving yield and fidelity.
• Develop or adapt assays (thermostability, enzyme activity, binding) and run them at the bench.
• Collaborate with the automation team to translate manual protocols into automated workflows.
• Analyze experimental data, identify failure modes, and iteratively improve methods.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering or related field.
• Extensive hands‑on experience at the bench with molecular biology techniques.
• Strong record of protein expression and purification.
• Comfortable interpreting chromatograms, binding curves, and gel data.
• Interest in automation and ability to work independently.
