Senior Backend Engineer (Elixir)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer specialized in Elixir to join a fully remote, asynchronous team in Switzerland. You will help build scalable, reliable backend systems that power globally distributed teams and modern workforce operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using Elixir, Phoenix, and cloud technologies.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (frontend, QA, SRE) to deliver high‑quality product features.
• Implement automation and AI‑driven workflows to improve engineering efficiency and system resilience.
• Participate in architectural discussions, technical strategy, and platform performance optimisation.
• Debug and resolve complex production issues while ensuring security and reliability.
• Mentor peers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and hiring activities.

Required profile

• Strong professional experience building production‑grade backend systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Solid experience with Elixir and related backend frameworks.
• Proven expertise in CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment tools.
• Deep understanding of cloud‑native environments and distributed systems.
