Senior Backend Engineer – Robotics Delivery Platform

About the role

RIVR, an Amazon company, is building Physical AI by deploying autonomous robots for real‑world doorstep delivery. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will design, develop, and operate the server‑side systems that power the robotics delivery platform, building robust, scalable microservices in a cloud‑native environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services that integrate RIVR’s platform with customers’ systems to enable seamless delivery experiences.
• Develop and enhance the backend infrastructure supporting robot operations.
• Create backend components that aggregate key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide insights into platform performance and business value.
• Contribute to the overall architecture, reliability, and scalability of backend systems within a containerized microservices context.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, robotics, and infrastructure engineers to deliver end‑to‑end features.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience designing, building, deploying, and operating backend systems in a Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) context.
• Strong experience with Typescript, Java, C++ and/or Python and with interaction patterns such as RPC, publish/subscribe, and event‑driven communication.
• Proficiency with at least two database technologies.
• Demonstrated experience in integrating complex third‑party APIs, building reliable distributed workflows, or developing event‑driven applications and scalable data‑processing pipelines.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotations.
