Senior Category Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Category Manager to lead strategic procurement for a leading international manufacturing services organization in Basel. The role focuses on developing sourcing strategies for engineered spare parts and maintenance components, working closely with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure a resilient global supply base.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for spare parts, machined components, electronics, and maintenance‑related materials.
• Lead strategic sourcing activities, supplier selection, and complex commercial negotiations with an international supplier base.
• Build long‑term supplier partnerships focused on quality, cost optimisation, innovation, and security of supply.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Service teams to support new product introductions and ongoing operational needs.
• Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership while mitigating supply‑chain risks and improving supplier performance.

Required profile

• Strong procurement or category management experience in aviation, automotive, or services‑related industries.
• Proven experience sourcing spare parts, machined components, electronics, MRO, or other engineered materials.
• Excellent commercial negotiation skills and experience managing strategic supplier relationships internationally.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
• Analytical, commercially minded, and experienced in developing long‑term category strategies.
• Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
• Fluent English; German or French advantageous.
