Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

The Senior Legal Counsel – EMEA is a senior individual contributor based in Switzerland, providing dedicated commercial legal support to the Assistant General Counsel – EMEA and regional legal teams. The role focuses on high‑volume, scalable delivery across multiple Waters business units while ensuring consistent, high‑quality legal outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day legal support on commercial transactions, including customer agreements, channel partner arrangements, pricing terms, and tenders.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements using approved templates, playbooks, and standard positions, applying business‑focused judgment.
• Manage a high volume of commercial legal work efficiently, using triage and prioritization models to meet agreed turnaround times.
• Identify opportunities to standardize, simplify, or streamline legal support to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with the Assistant General Counsel – EMEA on regional priorities, escalation decisions, and workload allocation.
• Leverage contract lifecycle management tools and partner with Legal Operations for continuous improvement and reporting.
• Identify and escalate legal and compliance risks, ensuring alignment with enterprise policies and governance standards.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience as a Senior Legal Counsel or equivalent in a commercial or in‑house environment.
• Strong background in commercial contracts, preferably within regulated, technology‑driven, multinational organizations.
• Experience working with global or regional stakeholders across multiple geographies.
• Ability to manage high volumes of work with strong attention to detail and prioritization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Law degree required; admission to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction preferred.
