Senior Project Engineer – DCS Simulation

About the role

ABB is looking for an experienced engineer to lead the development of simulation environments and process modelling for the power generation market. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating closely with customers to deliver tailored simulation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Own medium to high‑complexity simulation projects, ensuring technical requirements, scope and on‑time delivery.
• Work with customers to shape solutions, gather feedback and drive continuous improvement.
• Assist project managers with scope control, risk assessment and mitigation actions.
• Support technical solution development for new sales proposals, from concept through cost analysis.
• Develop and review standard processes, tools and techniques while ensuring compliance with regulations and contractual requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical, mechanical or related engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in developing training/validation simulation environments for combined‑cycle power plants or district heating networks.
• Business‑fluent German and English communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3KeyMaster or comparable simulation environment technology.
• Experience with large‑scale process automation DCS systems such as ABB 800xA.
• Strong knowledge of process and thermodynamic modelling.
• Familiarity with engineering practices, codes and standards in automation.
