Software Engineer, Blockchain & Distributed Systems

About the role

Blockstream is looking for software engineers at entry to senior levels to develop blockchain and digital asset solutions for enterprise and institutional clients. You will work within the Service & Enterprise Solutions team, building secure, scalable platforms for banking customers.

Key responsibilities

• Write clean, maintainable code following team standards and best practices.
• Implement features based on technical specifications and debug software defects with guidance.
• Develop and execute unit tests to ensure code quality.
• Participate in code reviews and support integration with APIs, databases, and external systems.
• Document code and technical processes clearly while collaborating with architects, DevOps, and QA teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 0-5 years of professional software development experience (including internships and academic projects).
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Java, or Rust.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, attention to detail, and a self‑starter attitude.
• English required; Swiss German/German, French or Italian a plus.

Required skills

• Fundamental programming concepts: data structures, algorithms, object‑oriented programming.
• Version control with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with APIs, RESTful services, and databases (SQL/NoSQL).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker).
• Basic understanding of blockchain, distributed systems, or cryptography concepts.
