Staff QA Automation Engineer (Android & iOS)

About the role
Proton is looking for a Staff QA Automation Engineer to lead testing efforts for its flagship mobile products, Proton Mail and Proton Calendar, on both Android and iOS platforms. You will shape the testing architecture, drive quality standards, and ensure a flawless user experience for millions of privacy‑focused users.
Key responsibilities
- Automate testing of Proton Mail and Calendar mobile applications to eliminate manual effort.
- Define and maintain testing architecture, metrics, defect resolution processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Promote a quality‑first mindset across the Inbox team.
- Collaborate with product, design, API, and support teams to prioritize issues and incorporate user feedback.
- Lead the unified quality strategy for the Inbox Business Unit.
Required profile
- 10+ years of experience as a QA Engineer.
- At least 2 years developing mobile automation frameworks.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to identify complex issues.
- Deep understanding of the software development life‑cycle and quality assurance processes.
Required skills
- Kotlin and Java programming.
- Swift programming.
- Android UI testing frameworks: Espresso, UI Automator, Jetpack Compose Testing.
- iOS UI testing frameworks: XCUITest, XCTest.
- Experience with CI/CD tools and pipelines.
