Sustainable Finance & Client-Facing Banking Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is seeking a sustainable‑finance professional with strong banking and client‑facing experience. The consultant will support the Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) worktrack by engaging banks and their clients on sustainability impacts, risks and opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the PRB worktrack focused on client engagement and sustainability integration.
• Bridge sustainability expertise with front‑office banking realities to translate ambitions into concrete business actions.
• Support banks in developing sustainable products, services and client‑engagement strategies.
• Facilitate collaboration between business units and sustainability functions within banks.
• Work with commercial clients from high‑impact or high‑risk sectors as well as SME clients.

Required profile

• Commercially minded professional with solid banking experience.
• Demonstrated client‑facing expertise in the financial sector.
• Strong knowledge of sustainable finance principles and the Principles for Responsible Banking.
• Ability to work remotely and deliver results within a 6‑month contract, with possible renewal.

• Knowledge of sustainable finance frameworks.
• Understanding of banking operations and client‑engagement processes.
