Systems and Digital ASIC Engineer

About the role

Join CERN's IC Technology R&D team to develop advanced electronics for future particle detectors. You will work at the interface between system‑level modelling and digital ASIC implementation, turning high‑level simulations into hardware prototypes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and use simulation models to optimise electronic systems for particle detectors.
• Design and implement digital integrated circuits based on system‑level specifications.
• Support verification and validation of designs through simulation and testing.
• Collaborate with engineers, physicists and software developers on advanced detector electronics.
• Document designs, results and technical developments, and share knowledge within the team.
• Supervise team members as required.

Required profile

• Knowledge of digital electronics and design from academic, research or personal projects.
• Familiarity with hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog or SystemVerilog.
• Understanding of system‑level modelling, simulation and verification techniques.
• Interest in integrated‑circuit design for scientific applications.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary, collaborative environments.
