Technical Support Engineer (UPS & PCS) - Hybrid

About the role

ABB is looking for a Technical Support Engineer (80-100% workload) in Quartino, reporting to the Service Team Leader. The role provides technical assistance to internal and external customers and ensures timely, cost-effective support in line with guidelines, while contributing to customer satisfaction and retention through high-quality service. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hardware support for ABB UPS (Uninterruptible Power Source) and PCS (Power Conditioning) products via the ticketing system, phone or email, including supporting partners and subsidiaries through the 24/7 Diagnostic Centre rotation.
• Analyse complex systems for ABB UPS and PCS products and document findings for stakeholders.
• Occasionally travel to support customers, partners and subsidiaries with complex installations such as large data centres, audit service operations and develop the competencies of local teams.
• Deliver technical training on UPS and PCS products for customers and service engineers as required.
• Work with departments such as Quality and R&D to address product issues and drive continuous product improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree, diploma or higher academic qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• 2-5 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, after-sales technical support and advanced diagnostics of UPS, PCS or energy storage solutions is beneficial.
• Experience commissioning and troubleshooting mission-critical applications such as data centres, high-volume industrial facilities and critical infrastructure is a plus.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English (B2 or higher); knowledge of Italian or Spanish is a strong asset.
• Ability to write clear technical documents, reports and field support procedures.
• Willingness to engage with clients and teams worldwide, with a travel commitment of up to 15%.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of the MS Office package.
• Advanced diagnostics of UPS, PCS and energy storage solutions.
