Traction Project Engineering Manager (80-100%)

About the role

Alstom is looking for a Traction Project Engineering Manager to lead the development and delivery of traction projects for locomotives, commuter and high‑speed trains at its Zurich competence centre. You will coordinate cross‑functional teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure successful transition from R&D to serial production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and order‑execution projects for the traction chain and its components.
• Functionally manage a core project team of up to 10 cross‑functional members.
• Plan project timelines, budgets and resources across the full lifecycle, from R&D through warranty.
• Represent Engineering in the project core team and manage interfaces with stakeholders, procurement, quality and customers.
• Coordinate engineering work packages, prototype procurement, assembly and testing in Zurich.
• Support the manufacturing site in launching serial production and handle technical decisions, trade‑offs and configuration changes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in traction system development and product development.
• Strong knowledge of the traction business and railway applications.
• Proven ability to coordinate multi‑site, cross‑functional teams.
• Capability to assess impact on quality, cost, delivery and performance and to escalate when necessary.
