Transport & Distribution Manager – Freight & Cost Optimization

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport & Distribution Manager to lead freight and distribution cost optimisation initiatives within a global supply chain. The role is based in Basel and will run for an initial 8‑12 month fixed‑term period.

Key responsibilities

• Lead freight and distribution cost optimisation projects to achieve significant annual savings.
• Represent logistics in global contract negotiations for transportation and warehousing services.
• Manage and optimise spend across a complex international network.
• Drive strategic initiatives related to transport and distribution efficiency.
• Oversee inbound and outbound logistics execution, ensuring compliance with GDP and GMP standards.
• Conduct gap analyses, define KPIs for service providers, and lead performance reviews.
• Lead RFQs for specialised freight categories, including temperature‑controlled logistics.
• Analyse logistics costs, design optimal routing and carrier strategies, and validate provider invoices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Economics or related field.
• 6‑9 years of experience in supply chain, logistics or procurement.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Proven project‑management experience.
• Solid understanding of transportation, warehousing and Incoterms.
• Fluent English with high professional integrity.
