About the role
Roche is seeking an Associate Group Director to lead a global, multidisciplinary Quantitative Safety Sciences team. The role combines advanced data science, pharmacoepidemiology and literature expertise to support regulatory deliverables and risk‑management strategies across the product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Provide line leadership for a worldwide team of data scientists, pharmacoepidemiologists and literature scientists, setting direction, culture and performance expectations.
- Oversee the delivery of quantitative safety analyses using real‑world data, clinical trial data and literature sources, ensuring scientific rigor and compliance with quality standards.
- Drive cross‑functional collaboration with PD Data Science, pRED/gRED, PDMA and other safety partners to develop model‑based insights and risk‑characterisation.
- Manage resource allocation, recruitment, onboarding and professional development to build an agile, high‑performing team.
Required profile
- University degree (MSc or PhD) in computer science, quantitative science, statistics, pharmacoepidemiology or a related natural science.
- Extensive data‑science experience in a scientific or medical setting, with proven leadership, coaching and project‑management skills.
- Deep familiarity with drug‑safety data sources (FAERS, clinical trials, biomarkers, real‑world data) and related business processes.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking, able to translate complex scientific questions into actionable analysis plans.
Required skills
- Advanced data‑science and AI/ML modelling techniques.
- Expert use of relational databases for data extraction and manipulation.
- Pharmacoepidemiology methodology and literature‑search expertise.
- Experience with regulatory safety reporting (PBRER, DSUR, SAC).
