About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva is seeking an Associate Information Systems Officer (TJO) to support its web‑based Performance Monitoring System. The role combines system development, operational support, and data analysis to enable results‑based management across the organization.
Key responsibilities
- Gather user requirements and draft technical specifications for system enhancements.
- Design, develop, test, and deploy new modules or stand‑alone tools to meet user needs.
- Provide operational support, including performance monitoring, patching, security updates, and system upgrades.
- Maintain project documentation, schedules, budgets, and risk registers; produce status reports and ensure quality assurance.
- Develop interfaces with existing OHCHR and UN Secretariat systems, ensuring data security and integrity.
- Contribute to disaster‑recovery planning in collaboration with the Information Management Technology Section.
- Prepare and update system documentation, user manuals, and training materials; deliver training sessions.
- Assist senior staff in evaluating new technologies and perform ad‑hoc duties as required.
Required profile
- Knowledge of at least two programming languages and basic systems analysis and design techniques.
- Experience with testing, debugging, and adhering to documentation standards.
- Proficiency in database design, storage concepts, and data security/access control.
- Ability to develop disaster‑recovery plans and conduct data visualization for decision‑making.
- Strong project‑management awareness, including planning, budgeting, and risk monitoring.
