CBRN Intern – Remote (UN Internship)

About the role

The United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) is seeking a remote intern to support its project on strengthening ASEAN capacity for chemical, biological, and radiological (CBRN) disinformation detection and response. This unpaid, full‑time position runs for an initial two months with the possibility of extension up to six months.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct desk research on CBRN disinformation trends, narratives, and incidents in assigned ASEAN Member States.
• Map national policies, strategies, and institutional frameworks related to CBRN crisis communication.
• Monitor and compile media and social‑media sources for emerging CBRN disinformation narratives.
• Assist in drafting and editing national reports, an annual magazine, and progress narrative reports.
• Prepare background documents, agendas, and briefing notes for virtual and in‑country missions.
• Support logistics and coordination for in‑country missions, including travel arrangements and liaison with local counterparts.
• Create presentations, infographics, and visual materials for workshops and missions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme (second university degree or equivalent) or the final academic year of a first university degree (minimum bachelor’s degree).
• Preferable fields of study: law, political science, international relations, security studies, or related disciplines.
