Deputy Director – Global Justice NGO

About the role

International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) is seeking a Deputy Director to support the CEO in leading the organization’s global operations from its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The role combines strategic leadership, operational oversight, and fundraising responsibilities to drive IBJ’s mission of ensuring fair legal representation worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with the CEO to implement IBJ’s vision, mission and strategy.
• Support strategic and operational planning processes and set organisational priorities.
• Contribute to fundraising strategy and lead the development of proposals and donor outreach.
• Oversee coordination of all international offices to ensure alignment with the mission.
• Manage organisational expansion, including new projects and initiatives.
• Lead technology integration initiatives, including artificial intelligence, and supervise the technology team.
• Direct outreach, communications and the development of supporter networks.
• Develop and manage organisational systems, processes and operational policies.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, grant compliance and accountability.
• Supervise staff, volunteers and interns; manage recruitment, performance reviews and HR systems.
• Oversee financial processes such as audit, payroll, benefits, insurance and project accounting.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in an international NGO or similar organisation.
• Strong results‑orientation with a track record of driving organisational growth.
• Experience in fundraising, donor engagement and proposal development.
• Ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams across global locations.
• Familiarity with digital transformation and technology integration, including AI.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Knowledge of the justice sector, legal aid and human‑rights contexts.
