Handyman - Hotel Maintenance

About the role

A hotel in Gstaad is looking for a handyman to handle repairs and maintenance across all technical areas. The position is paid by the hour, averaging 20 hours per week, with a standard Monday to Friday schedule of 4 working hours per day plus a 1-hour break when the property is unoccupied; weekends and public holidays may need to be adjusted when the property is occupied.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and maintenance independently in electrical, plumbing, painting and other technical areas
• Monitor and maintain building systems such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning and electrical installations
• Inspect and check technical systems regularly for safety
• Perform daily scheduled maintenance and minor repairs on plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances and mechanical equipment
• Do surface and finish repairs such as furniture touch-ups, paintwork, vinyl repair and silicone application
• Maintain inventories and daily checklists, and report faults and breakdowns to the Property Manager
• Support special maintenance projects and other reasonable tasks requested by the Property Manager or Group Chief Engineer
• Comply with safety and environmental standards, including Life Safety and Fire Safety equipment

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar role in a hotel or private household
• Good command of English
• Good understanding of the suppliers and the area
