Laboratory Technician – R&D Operations

About the role

The Laboratory Technician will support R&D operations by performing chemical and physical modifications of mineral powders and operating pilot‑scale equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct grinding, precipitation, granulation and other modifications of mineral powders.
• Work with dispersants, grinding aids and rheology modifiers in wet/dry grinding, surface modification, slurry dewatering, spray drying and slurry stabilization.
• Operate pilot‑scale equipment such as ball mills and glass furnaces.
• Perform material characterization using appropriate analytical techniques.
• Test, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Document and report experimental results accurately and promptly.
• Support scientists and engineers on interdisciplinary research projects.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to cross‑functional activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, quality standards and operating protocols.

Required profile

• Technical degree or apprenticeship in chemistry or a natural science.
• Laboratory experience and willingness to operate pilot‑scale equipment.
• Good command of German and English.
• Fundamental knowledge of inorganic and organic chemistry.
• Motivation for practical experimentation and strong team spirit.
• Experience in an ISO‑certified environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Familiarity with pilot‑scale equipment (ball mill, glass furnace).
