Postdoctoral Scientist – Vascularized Kidney Organoids
roche · Basel
Job description
About the role
The Institute of Human Biology at Roche seeks a postdoctoral scientist to lead a newly funded fellowship focused on vascularized kidney organoids. You will work at the intersection of organoid biology, vascular biology, and bioengineering to create translational models for drug discovery and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Develop iPSC-derived kidney organoids with functional vasculature and promote tissue maturation.
- Design and optimize engineered culture systems, including microfluidic platforms, to enable vascular perfusion.
- Collaborate with stem cell biologists to study nephron development and cell‑cell communication.
- Translate biological insights into predictive models for human kidney safety assessment.
Required profile
- PhD completed within the last three years, with a strong track record in iPSC‑derived 3D tissue models or organoids.
- Scientifically ambitious, able to devise new concepts rather than follow established protocols.
Required skills
- Experience with iPSC‑derived organoid generation and tissue specification.
- Knowledge of bioengineering techniques and microfluidic system design.
- Background in developmental biology, particularly kidney or vascular systems.
