Procurement Analyst Intern – Trading Operations

About the role

TotalEnergies Trading (T&S) is the trading arm of TotalEnergies for crude oil, refined products, biofuels and paper derivatives, operating from Geneva among other cities. It is looking for a high-potential, analytically driven Procurement Analyst Intern to join its 30-person Operations Technical Services (OTS) team, which supports trading activities and helps preserve profit in day-to-day operations. The internship lasts 6 months, starts in December 2026 and covers procurement for service providers such as inspection companies, superintendents and additive suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, analyse, structure and interpret procurement data to support fast, fact-based decisions.
• Identify service providers without framework agreements or with insufficient contractual, KYC or compliance coverage.
• Support the preparation and execution of RFPs and tenders, including stakeholder problem structuring, timelines and data consolidation.
• Analyse supplier proposals on pricing, compliance, service levels and performance indicators.
• Monitor supplier performance and adherence to contracts, and oversee service provider onboarding against HSE, contracts and pricing standards.
• Maintain procurement documentation and ensure data consistency and traceability.
• Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking and market intelligence, and take part in price negotiations with service providers.
• Work with Finance, Operations, Trading Desks, IT and Legal, and propose ideas to automate or redesign workflows.

Required profile

• Final-year Master's student in Engineering or quantitative disciplines (Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Energy, Data, IT, Applied Maths, Operations Research); EPFL, Centrale, Mines graduates particularly encouraged.
• Demonstrated interest in commodities markets, trading or trading operations.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Fast learner, results-oriented, able to work under time pressure and communicate with senior and operational stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and data visualisation tools (Power BI).
• Python, with the ability to prototype, automate and deploy solutions; exposure to AI/LLM tools is a strong plus.
• Prior experience in data analysis, coding, optimisation, operations, logistics or quantitative modelling.
