Research Scientist – OT Cybersecurity

About the role

ABB is seeking a Research Scientist to advance Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity. You will work in a hybrid setting at the ABB Research centre in Baden‑Dättwil, contributing to the security architecture of ABB’s software‑based industrial products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to research projects that transform state‑of‑the‑art results into practical software solutions for ABB.
• Create prototypes of innovative concepts with measurable business impact.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their influence on ABB product road‑maps.
• Disseminate findings through scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Hands‑on experience in software engineering and system design.
• Deep knowledge in OT security, computer security, distributed or embedded systems, secure communications or applied cryptography.
• Proven track record of publications in top‑tier scientific venues.
