About the role
Novartis is seeking a senior scientific leader to drive exploratory soluble biomarker strategies across its clinical pipeline. The role combines biology, technology, and clinical development to deliver innovative biomarker solutions that support smarter decisions and improved patient outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead a team developing, validating, and implementing soluble biomarker assays using LC‑MS and immunoassay platforms.
- Serve as subject‑matter expert for LC‑MS, ELISA, MSD, NULISA, and Ella technologies.
- Oversee laboratory operations, resource planning, and project prioritisation.
- Provide hands‑on technical leadership for method development, validation, sample analysis and result delivery.
- Lead biomarker assay activities for clinical studies, both internal and outsourced.
- Analyse complex data, translate findings into actionable recommendations for project teams and governance bodies.
- Identify emerging biomarkers, technologies and methodologies to strengthen capabilities.
- Build collaborations across Novartis functions and external partners.
- Represent Novartis in scientific publications, presentations and conferences.
- Mentor and develop scientists and technical staff, fostering a culture of scientific excellence.
Required profile
- PhD with 5+ years or MSc with 8+ years of relevant industry experience in biomarker development or translational research.
- Previous people‑leadership experience at Associate Director level.
- Strong expertise in soluble biomarker assay development, validation and clinical implementation.
- Proven ability to shape strategy, solve technical challenges and drive high‑quality execution.
- Excellent communication skills and strong cross‑functional collaboration experience.
