Software Senior Technical Lead Rust

About the role

Roche is looking for a Software Senior Technical Lead with expertise in Rust to drive the development of integrated software solutions for Molecular Diagnostics Systems. You will work in a cross‑functional, global environment, supporting the Diagnostics 10‑year ambition.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Product Owner, System Architect, Solution Architect and other stakeholders to translate complex business needs into technical solutions.
• Design and develop innovative, regulatory‑compliant software that meets quality attributes such as scalability, performance, reliability and maintainability.
• Guide the team in best practices, including code reviews, testing, continuous integration and continuous improvement.
• Mentor and empower team members, fostering a collaborative and psychologically safe working environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in software development; IVD experience is a plus.
• Several years of proven software development experience with a passion for hands‑on coding.
• Strong communication skills and ability to promote an inclusive, diverse environment.
• Motivation to make an impact for team members, customers and patients.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Rust, including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes and async/await.
• Experience with Rust libraries/frameworks such as Tokio, Actix‑web, Rocket, Serde and SQLx.
• Familiarity with modern architectures (event‑driven, DDD) and containerization technologies like Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of quality‑driven practices such as TDD and BDD.
