Artwork Creation Manager - Pharmaceutical Packaging

About the role

A global pharmaceutical organisation in Basel is looking for an experienced Artwork Creation Manager. You will create, manage and quality-check printed packaging materials (PPM) for global pharmaceutical products, ensuring compliance with GMP requirements, technical specifications and corporate packaging standards. You will be the main interface between internal stakeholders, external artwork agencies, packaging sites and CMOs, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality packaging artwork. The position starts in January 2027 with an initial 12-month term, with a high chance of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Create and edit PDFs for printed packaging materials such as folding boxes, labels, foils and leaflets from manuscripts, predecessor PDFs and technical drawings
• Develop new artwork for product launches and line extensions
• Create and maintain graphic templates, die cuts, tables and graphic standards
• Collaborate with Product Configuration Managers to deliver on time and resolve issues proactively
• Act as main contact for external artwork service providers, CMOs, packaging sites and internal stakeholders
• Manage file uploads into PDF libraries, artwork documentation and content sheets in Esko WebCenter
• Maintain text databases, macros and graphical documentation where required
• Finalise print-ready files and provide artwork data to print suppliers
• Complete GMP documentation, checklists and archiving; support complaint management and quality investigations in the QMS
• Perform artwork quality checks, proofreading and verification
• Drive continuous improvement and support performance reviews with service providers

Required profile

• Digital & Print Media Designer, Graphic Designer or related qualification
• 5-10 years of experience in pharmaceutical packaging, artwork management or a specialised artwork service provider
• Strong understanding of GMP-regulated processes and pharmaceutical packaging requirements
• Fluent English

Required skills

• Expert-level Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
• PDF creation, template management and artwork preparation for printed packaging
• Artwork verification tools such as GlobalVision, TVT, Esko or similar
• Attention to detail and quality focus
• Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across international teams
