About the role

The Economic Cooperation and Trade Division of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in Geneva is seeking two Associate Economic Affairs Officers. The role supports an extra‑budgetary project on enhancing traceability of sustainable value chains across critical sectors for the green transition.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and analyse qualitative socio‑economic data on ESG transparency and traceability of sustainable value chains.
• Prepare briefing notes, speech inputs and other material for non‑specialist audiences.
• Assist senior staff in servicing the UNECE Team of Specialists on ESG Transparency and Traceability for Sustainable Value Chains.
• Draft inputs for reports to intergovernmental and expert bodies and summarise meeting outcomes.
• Compile and analyse data for technical cooperation project proposals and documentation.
• Monitor and assess implementation of technical cooperation programmes and projects.
• Undertake on‑the‑job training and other professional development activities.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of economic theories and their practical application.
• Ability to identify, collect and analyse data from diverse sources.
• Experience in researching, analysing and reporting on ESG transparency and sustainable value chains.
• Professional competence, attention to deadlines and commitment to high‑quality results.
