Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to support the Head of Legal at Itaú Private Bank Suisse. The role involves providing comprehensive legal advice across banking, data protection, corporate, contracts and regulatory matters for our Swiss operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver broad legal advice within a small team, covering banking, data protection, corporate, contracts and regulatory issues.
• Support product approval, development of new banking products and implementation of projects with legal input.
• Review, draft and negotiate a variety of contracts, including distribution agreements, market data provider contracts, trading platform and broker agreements, IT service contracts and intragroup service agreements.
• Prepare and review corporate documents such as shareholders’ meeting minutes, board meeting extracts, bylaws, internal policies and procedures.
• Handle requests from governmental authorities and draft correspondence with FINMA on corporate matters.
• Assist the front office in drafting client documentation.
• Lead the regulatory radar, contribute to regulatory projects and advise on implementation of legal requirements.
• Perform minor administrative duties such as filing, preparing presentations and organizing calls.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal role, preferably within the banking sector.
• Master’s degree in law (Swiss) and admission to the Bar is a strong plus.
• Strong communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues in Brazil, the USA and Switzerland.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a dynamic environment.
• Owner‑mindset for managing own projects.

Required skills

• Professional experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts across multiple areas of law.
• Fluent English; Portuguese and/or German are advantageous.
