Molecular Biology Internship – Bioengineering Lab

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated lab that lets AI agents run biology experiments. This internship offers hands‑on work on real production workflows, including cloning, protein expression, purification, and characterization, in a high‑throughput, heavily automated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Run molecular cloning and protein production end‑to‑end: PCR, assembly, transformation, expression (bacterial and/or mammalian), and purification.
• Execute and improve QC on constructs and proteins (capillary electrophoresis, sequencing, SDS‑PAGE) and characterization assays (binding, expression, stability).
• Take flaky or slow workflows and make them reliable and faster through better protocols and automation.
• Work hands‑on with liquid handlers and lab automation, pushing manual protocols toward automated ones.
• Document data precisely, track samples, and ensure reproducibility and traceability.
• Diagnose and fix failures across biology, reagents, and instruments.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with molecular biology techniques such as PCR, cloning, transformation, electrophoresis, and preferably protein expression and purification.
• Studying or recently graduated in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Science Engineering, or a related field.
• Curious about automation and software; comfortable with scripting (Python) or liquid‑handling automation is a strong plus.
• Self‑starter who can identify needs and act without waiting for direction.
• Uses AI tools as a default to learn faster and work smarter.
