Programme Coordinator – UNEP Finance Initiative

About the role

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is seeking a Programme Coordinator on a short‑term consultancy basis. The role supports the coordination of UNEP FI’s climate‑related programmes, helping to engage banks, insurers, investors and other stakeholders in implementing sustainability principles.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall programme coordination for UNEP FI’s climate‑change work‑streams.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration among financial institutions, regulators, governments and multi‑stakeholder groups.
• Assist in the development and dissemination of guidance, tools and training materials related to the Principles for Responsible Banking and the Principles for Sustainable Insurance.
• Support outreach activities both within the UN system and externally to broaden UNEP FI’s impact.
• Track progress, prepare reports and ensure timely delivery of deliverables over the three‑month assignment.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in programme coordination, preferably within the sustainability or finance sector.
• Strong understanding of sustainable finance frameworks such as the Principles for Responsible Banking and the Principles for Sustainable Insurance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders remotely.
