Programme Management Intern – Extreme Heat Risk Governance

About the role

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) is seeking a motivated intern to support the Extreme Heat Risk Governance and Investment programme. This 6‑month position in Geneva will contribute to the development and implementation of the Extreme Heat Risk Governance Framework and Toolkit.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in research, data collection and analysis on extreme heat impacts and governance mechanisms.
• Support the drafting of policy briefs, reports and communication materials for UNDRR, WMO and partner networks.
• Help coordinate stakeholder consultations with governments, IFIs, civil society and the private sector.
• Maintain project documentation, track deliverables and update the programme’s monitoring dashboard.
• Contribute to the preparation of webinars, workshops and knowledge‑sharing events.

Required profile

• Current enrolment in a university programme related to climate change, environmental studies, public policy or a similar field.
• Strong analytical and writing skills with an interest in disaster risk reduction.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with data visualization tools or basic statistical software is a plus.
