Senior Agricultural Statistics Expert

About the role
NTU International is seeking a Senior Agricultural Statistics Expert to support the EU‑funded project “EU Assistance for the Uzbekistan AgriFood Development Strategy 2020‑2030”. The role will focus on strengthening agricultural statistics systems, data management frameworks and evidence‑based monitoring to aid the implementation of Uzbekistan’s agri‑food strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Support the modernisation of agricultural statistics systems and institutional data management frameworks.
- Provide technical assistance on data collection methodologies, statistical systems and sector monitoring tools.
- Develop statistical indicators, agricultural databases and evidence‑based monitoring frameworks.
- Conduct analyses of agricultural production, rural development, food systems and agri‑food sector performance.
- Advise public institutions on statistical standards, data quality assurance and information management.
- Harmonise agricultural statistics methodologies with international standards and reporting requirements.
- Prepare statistical analyses, sector reports, technical studies and policy monitoring frameworks.
- Coordinate with ministries, statistical agencies, research institutions and development partners.
- Deliver workshops, technical training and capacity‑building activities related to agricultural statistics and data systems.
- Contribute to monitoring, reporting and evaluation of agri‑food sector reforms and statistical system strengthening initiatives.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in statistics, agricultural economics, economics, data science, econometrics or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in agricultural statistics, statistical systems, data analysis or evidence‑based policy development.
- At least 7 years of experience specifically in agricultural statistics systems, methodologies or agri‑food sector data analysis.
- Proven experience working on agricultural, rural development or statistical reform projects in developing or transition economies.
- Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
